Avatar Movie Fansite
| Avatar is the story of a parapalegic ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit Pandora, an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity. Eventually, Jake crosses over to lead Pandora's indigenous race (Na'vi) in a battle for survival. The movie is James Cameron's first movie since Titanic and will be using new 3-D technology. I remember watching it for the first time a week and a half ago, and the sorrow was overwhelming. My Sis and I were discussing about the film after we walked out of the cinema, describing how it was beautiful and moving. After that day, my Sister had moved on, the feeling had left her, whereas for me, it was still there inside of me, my heart feeling heavier than ever... I couldn't help but watch this film again, and so I did... a few more times. The heavy hearted feeling still hasn't fully disappeared, some of it is still there inside of me, but I am coping with it much better now than earlier today. I guess this feeling of sorrow has to do with some of the things involved with the film, for example, the reviews. The reviews bug me because they all state the same thing, never mentioning the emotional experience we receive during and after the film ends. The response from the public is mostly positive, but there is no sign of, "Wow, I was moved after watching that...". It's all "The CGI was amazing, the action was cool." I don't want to hear any of that, sure, they are positive, but what about the experience Cameron intended for us... The experience was great because the visuals were stunning, but I'm talking about experiencing the movie as a whole...experiencing the joy, anger, laughter and sorrow the film presents to us. Anyway, did anybody feel anything after leaving the cinema from watching Avatar? If so, how long did this feeling last within you?

the first time i watched avatar is was very nice, it felt like i was in heaven, the movie is very touching and i am obsessed with it now . i have watched it 25 times and i have never got bord of it, i have started making my own na'vi weapons and every time i watch it i get more and more into it, some people say "its not the best" but that's there opinion but i hate it when people say to you that it is a crap movie because their wrong. only if earth was more like pandora, a nice enviroment and no litter. people need to learn that the world is not all about fights and yourself. it is about lots more.

I am excited to report that James Cameron is in discussion to do a walking tour of the tarsands and lend his insight on the situation and his widespread popularity to bring attention to this ongoing fiasco.
He had responded to the AVATARSANDS campaign with appreciative words and kindness - but this step would be his outright support for shining global attention on a hugely ignored hotspot in the dirtyoil economy. Will post as soon as I know more for all of you who love the work that is being done to connect up global issues with a global visionary! |
