Hehe, Honorguard117 I responded to your exact same question on youtube and now here I find you again. Seriously though, I don't see the mass population feeling the same emotions and such as we have experienced after seeing the film. I know all my friends don't. I also saw it again with my cousin and little brother and initially they did feel the same way but they've already moved on. Its been about 3 weeks since the movie came out and I still have those same feelings. You summed it up perfectly, "free spirited and imaginative people will connect to this film in an emotional way". Out of all the people I've watched the movie with, none of them are as free-spirited or imaginative. Life is just taken too seriously by all of them. They just can't see all the beauty and wonder that we all see and feel.

It is important to mention that this feeling of sorrow or longing, as some one else has put it, should not be taken too heavily or lightly. I have searched around the web and heard mention of people going through "avatar withdrawal" and contemplating suicide. I hope that no one here has such intentions, as suicide has never been a good solution to any problem. I also encourage everyone who has a heavy heart to look at yourself and decide why you are feeling that way. Talking to like minded individuals online and in person helps. Find ways to take this energy and use it to better your world. I don't entirely know where I am going with all of this but I do believe one thing, we are all connected in one way or another. Hope this helps. Do you find this valuable? |

I havn't heard of anyone contemplating suicide!! But I can believe the Avatar withdrawl thing... Its just such a shame that some people lack the emotional ability to feel what we feel. Like H/Guard said, it is the hardest when trying to commune your feelings with those closest to you, yet they don't understand how you feel. I suppose it just takes some time to adjust.

I know I am not on topic but I will say how I feel/felt through out the four times I have seen this film.First Time I saw this was with my father, The thoughts I had before this movie completely changed when I saw it. It changed my life, my thoughts, and everything I see around me. Second time I saw this movie it was more intense and suspenseful, The emotions I had were worse than ever before in my life. I did not want to come out of the theater. Third time I saw this movie it was hard to even watch it. My stomach and heart ached when I saw the Na'vi's home destroyed it was almost unbearable. Fourth time I saw this movie which was just a few hours ago It was very very intense and I was full of emotion more than before. I didn't want to leave Pandora, Pandora is my second home now. I really bursted into tears when The home-tree fell. I almost couldn't even bare to watch it. Thank you James Cameron for these amazing movie(s) now and for deciding to make avatar 2 & 3! You know, i was in a brink of self destructivity when i was at bottom of withrawal, but i got over it with help of my strong character and of course with safehaven here. You know when i first saw tree going down i felt sad, but seeing Na'vis eyes i barely hold up. It is strange how so strong character can broke so easily in emotional way. As i have talked earlier, i have found my emotional side and ice around my heart did melt just during movie. It was first strange to notice that even with your strongest will, your heart is still vulnerable. You know how great it is to walk in the silent snowy woods with your dogs, listening track "Jake enters his avatar world". I raise my look to the sky and watch the stars shining. I reach my frozen hand towards winter starry sky. "Maybe you are out there somewhere". Hoowzaa, tickets for new round preserved for next wednesday. Best seats in whole hall. With two friends, one with who i saw it first time and one first timer (Too bad he is shallow person). I got my hopes up of for him. Do you find this valuable? |

Yes.. I am disappointed that no one I know in real life understands how I feel about this film. Last night I made my youtube avatar playlist and plugged my headphones in and tried to dream of pandora :( I couldnt. sadly. My sister and family do not like this movie as much as me..

"I am with you in heart and soul. You are experiencing the Avatar heart. To know and to love all things. The beauty is beyond the physical eyes ,you see with your heart . When my sister and I saw Avatar for the first time we were moved to tears. We are born into a mythic way of see and understanding the worlds and its way of showing Truth. Those who respond to Avatar the way are the keepers of light and peace. "I agree with you. I like what you said about those responding in a similar fashion being the 'keepers of light and peace', it's true. Those who experienced that 'longing' feeling are the ones who are guided by their heart, instead of their heads. Not to say that we don't use our heads at all! It's just that we are more heart-based, which is why we connected to the film in a deeper manner ;) And to Sorsa, I definitely believe that there are many people out there who are afraid of expressing their feelings. For example, on the Net, especially on YouTube, I had to ask the question on whether anybody felt sorrow after watching Avatar, and the response was incredible. All who responded said yes, and I was comforted by the positive responses, yet I was still disappointed because I had to ask and search for those who received the same experiences... I wish people could just express their thoughts and feelings of the film instead of hold it back because of their fear of embarassment. It shouldn't be embarassing revealing how you felt after watching this movie because it reveals the type of person you are, a deep and thoughtful person. It also reveals that we weren't too shallow to see the surface of things, instead we saw the depth and felt it. Hoorah! Do you find this valuable? |

I know those that refrain from watching the film simply because they read a review which said the storyline sucked. Too bad, these people are too naive to think for themselves and judge a movie that's poised to be no.1 in box office sales and perhaps best picture even. Are they denying their inner child by thinking that Avatar's just a show about blue aliens with tail? Now that's just sad, if it's so.There's many cause and kind of sorrow and to not feel sorrow during the movie, I think it's an understatement. The scene after the hometree fell, in the lab, where Selfridge and the Scientists were, and I especially admire the struggle after Selfridge instructed mention"'Unplug them". That was a definite emotional trip. Do you find this valuable? |

It's like 'a calling' which you just can't resist right? The last time I felt this strongly for a show/drama was Roswell (season 1. & even was among the petitioners for an extended season 2, unfortunately after which the show kind of 'bombed' as the story wore off.) But I've never felt this way for a feature film/movie, and never in my 28years of walking this planet have I watched and got thrilled from watching the same show over and over again, within a short space of time. I'm sure you'd feel the same way too. ; )

I just saw this movie for the first time today, and I agree 1000%, the emotional experience you feel watching this movie is unbelievable. What I feel really added to the emotional experience was the music that they added to the movie. The songs were amazing and seem to fit perfectly with the scenes in the movie, and I am going to go see this movie again for sure this week, as I was also sad to have to leave the planet of Pandora and the experience of this movie, I have a feeling I am going to be dreaming of Avatar for many nights to come. I think the movie really shows the emotional connection that 2 people and a race of people can have, and how amazing that emotion can feel.

Well I saw the film last night, I must admit I have never felt anything like it emotionally speaking from a film before.I feel the sense of longing, I spent a long while staring out at the grey landscape of buildings outside of my window despite the fact it was snowing - I love the snow normally it would make my day, but nothing. I however feel some good from this. I am sorry if i now sound totally stupid, but I think I can use this emotion and experience in my favour. I feel I can finally do some things in my life that I don't think I could do before. So i guess I owe a lot to all those involved in creating the movie. I guess at the moment it is all talk I guess I will see tomorow. The soundtrack was absolutely stunning as well - I love 'the bioluminescence of the night' something so nice about it. I am going to go and see it again hopefully mid february which is the closest date I can get a decent seat at the IMAX in london :§ I could not be more glad I found this thread. I felt so out of place of society it is nice knowing I am indeed not the only one. Do you find this valuable? |

I have been wondering about it ever since seeing the movie. I am yet to find someone I truly love so I guess I am in no position to comment. Have any of you experiences such strong emotion with another person? :) Do you find this valuable? |

"I remember watching it for the first time a week and a half ago, and the sorrow was overwhelming. My Sis and I were discussing about the film after we walked out of the cinema, describing how it was beautiful and moving. After that day, my Sister had moved on, the feeling had left her, whereas for me, it was still there inside of me, my heart feeling heavier than ever... I couldn't help but watch this film again, and so I did... a few more times. The heavy hearted feeling still hasn't fully disappeared, some of it is still there inside of me, but I am coping with it much better now than earlier today. I guess this feeling of sorrow has to do with some of the things involved with the film, for example, the reviews. The reviews bug me because they all state the same thing, never mentioning the emotional experience we receive during and after the film ends. Although the response from the public is mostly positive, but there is no sign of, "Wow, I was moved after watching that...". It's all "The CGI was amazing, the action was cool." I don't want to hear any of that, sure, they are positive, but what about the experience Cameron intended for us... Sure, the experience was great because the visuals were stunning, but I'm talking about experiencing the movie as a whole...experiencing the joy, anger, laughter and sorrow the film presents to us. Anyway, did anybody feel anything after leaving the cinema from watching Avatar? If so, how long did this feeling last within you?"I ve waited for this film for so long, and I went on its premiere, and two times after that. And the three times I have seen it so far will probably become 303!! Why? Because I knew that James Cameron has that ability to compose a story that is not just all about its CGI. I was afraid that with the story of this one before seing it, and I was so wrong ... I 've never seen so much soul in a film (and I have seen many) ... with so many messages, brilliant in every cinematic element. The film leaves you with so many feelings and like you said, is imprinted in your mind after you leave the cinema. The world can learn so much from Avatar. Let us also not forget the amazing score by James Horner and also the fact that films like Terminator 2 and Titanic left us with similar emotions, because it saddens me to see that over the years people have forgot about them, especially the latter one. For me, James Cameron is by far the greatest living director and he has inspired me through his movies in so many ways. I waited 12 years to see his next film, and boy, I wasn't at all dissapointed!!! Avatar is a revolution and a masterpiece in its own right, in CGI but most importantly in emotions!! For me, he has brought back the magic of the movies, because this is what they are supposed to be all about!!! Do you find this valuable? |

"sorry about double post…I do think that kind of emotion is possible between 2 people, and I hope one day I get to feel it. Most people probably never feel anything remotely close to that, because most people dont look for someone to love, they want someone who is very attractive. Do you find this valuable? |

"sorry about double post…Yeah, I know what you mean. I remember looking at couples after I watched Avatar, and it seemed dull compared to the relationship between Jake and Neytiri. The scene that moved me was when she rushed in to the link pod to help Jake put on the breathing mask. She says with a tear rolling down her cheek, "I see you". Man, this giant blue female alien is helping this small, scrawny human being... Now that's true love. :( Do you find this valuable? |

its kinda like love at first sight its there for us all to have we just have to "see" each other first not physical but the spirit that lies in our heart. i have had this kinda love and its amazing. its a connection that cannot b broken. i feel like the human soul is the same as the navi ppl . we feel deeply about things that are important to us. we just get caught up in the day to day life we have made for ourselves. we let nature go. we forgot the connection we have to our mother earth. but if u go out in the afternoon and the beauty of the sunset or watch the graceful swan swim thru the water or merely watch the wind blow its her reminding us she is stll here.
