Casting Begins for the next Avatar
Mar 1 2010, 11:35 PM EST
Sigourney Weaver will return in the next installment of Avatar. She was on French television, 'Le Grand Journal" and stated that she would reprise her roll in the next film. She stated that she was "in the Tree of Souls" and that Cameron had spoken to her about reviving her roll. She said she didn't want to "promise" anything else about the film. She was in Paris presenting the Cesar d'Honnuer to Harrison Ford at the Cesar awards; similar to our Academy Awards. Unfortunately, "Avatar" lost out to Eastwood's "Gran Torino" as best Foreign Film. Got another one for you that I just saw today. JC said he will not call it Avatar 2, because Jake became a Na'Vi at the end, so he may very well call it "Na'Vi". Of course, you know they aren't going to tell us much for a while. I would be surprised if there is any tangible information about the sequel before Christmas. One can only hope, though. I went to see it again tonight for the 9th time, & plan to see it one more time on Thursday before it is gone here. I can't hardly wait for the prequel book let alone the sequel movie. Horrors, what will I do to feed my addiction??? >;-) At least we will have the DVD in April, (I hope!)Do you find this valuable? |

Oh yes, i think Na'Vi is a better name for the sequel than "Avatar 2"....the latter is just so bland and expected. And i'm surprised to hear that Grace Augustine will be in the next film....perhaps her abandoned avatar body will be put to use. I'm also interested to see what happens with Norm Spellman and the other avatar drivers who remained on Pandora after the war. and that's absolutely rediculous that Grand Torino beat Avatar. I take French and in my class we do a lot of studying of French culture, and Avatar seems like it would be a major hit in France because of the environmentalist ideals and sci-fi storyline....*sigh* such a disappointment. I feel a little uneasy about Grace returning in the sequel. It just sounds too much like Star Wars (Obi-Wan Kenobi). But if James Cameron is writing the script, it should be relevant to the story, because he definitely knows what he is doing. But I still was not expecting to hear about Sigourney Weaver's character being revived.

James also said that no way was anyone else gonna helm it but him. He MAY take some one under his wing and guide them in order to pass it on farther down the road, after the third maybe.

It's exciting to hear about significant steps towards the next film already. I had resigned myself to waiting for a year or more before hearing anything concrete. Very cool! TxonAtan, I, too, am quite curious to find out what role in the story Norm will now play (especially since his avatar was killed) along with the other humans. Do you find this valuable? |
