AVATAR vs Clash of the Titans

Just got back for seeing Clash of the Titans. Maybe it was the AVATAR hang over ,but, my suggestion is don't wast your money! I found myself half way thru the movie wanting to leave but as I had paid to see it it, sat through the whole thing. I thought the 3D was nowhere near as good, the FX was ok,but, again NOT as creative or beleivable as AVATAR. The acting, well, sucked!! There were times when Perseous (Sam Worthington) sounded just like Jake. Battle cries, in pain, speech........... I was thoughly disapointed.
The 1hr and 50 mins (maybe 1hr and 40 mins of actual movie) felt like a longer movie then AVATAR's 2hr 40 min's. Of course if you are still interested don't let my "words" stop you. It would be interesting to see if others here enjoy it more then I.

Wow, I was surprised to see you did not like it at all, I saw it today too, & loved it. I never thought of Avatar once during the movie either. I have now seen Avatar 14 times, the last time was yesterday because I knew it would be gone today with Clash coming out. Avatar will always be my favorite movie of all time, no doubt, but Clash is a totally different type of movie where you really can't compare it to Avatar. I also did not see it in 3D since that was done after the fact & what I am hearing it is not worth the extra $ to see it that way. I am a big fan of sword & sandal flicks, not just fantasy / sci fi so that may be why I felt so differently. I thought Sam did a great job as Perseus & it was WAY better than the original Clash which I thoroughly loved back in '81. I also loved Liam Neeson & Ralph Fiennes as well as Mads Mikkelsen's performances. To each his own, I am a huge movie buff though & love ALL genres & appreciate each for what it is. I have already heard a lot of people disappointed in Clash & the critics ripped it up, but I don't listen to critics anyway. Now I'm curious if other Avatar fans will like it or not. Glad you enjoyed it Vanessa. Like I said, maybe it was the AVATAR "hangover". I've seen AVATAR 8-9 times and LOVE anything SciFi or as you called it swords & sandals,BUT, I just thought this movie had/tried to tell to much in a short period of film time. Sam Worthington had like 3 lines in his first 20 mins on film and all he did was try and look "pained" and stared out into "space" appearing to be continplating something.
Liam Neison was good not sure who Ralph Fiennes was (Hades?). MY feeling was with ALL the CGI, FX available it could have been done better AND the actors (Some big names) have done much better in past preformances. A thought. Maybe it was rushed to get it out and take advantage of the 3D/CGI wave? Bottom line for me. If AVATAR is a 12 on a scale of 1 -10 and I think everyone here will agree with that. To me CotT was maybe
a 6 at best. Was I expecting much more? YES. Is that part of my disapointment? maybe!

Woooo Clash Of The Titans rocked!! Sorry that you couldn't enjoy it as much as I did A.I.N.'s but I thought it was a well directed movie, with decent cinematography, tight editing, short crispy dialogues and with one helluva hero. Oh, it was Jake, I mean Sam Worthington!

Perhaps A.i.N.'s finding it hard to separate Sam from Jake, which I initially did too. Kept having thoughts of a blue, cat-eared entity walking around in Argos, but oh how I was disappointed. BUT, the movie didn't disappoint and it was quite an adventure on itself. As to whether it was wayy better than the original, it's an unfair comparison, based on the available technology in existence.

So, there you go, it's a great adventure. Sam's hard hitting they-killed-my-parents-and-sister-so-I-hate-them performance showed through, and you could see in his eyes, just how much he wanted to go through the journey as a man, and not as a god. It's sad that his comrades didn't make it through the battles, but on hindsight, the Pegasus probably couldn't carry them all back to Argos.

Ok k k , I talk too much. My thoughts: Good show -- Avatar still rules -- but CoTT still a good show, nice entertainment. 3D not as Avatarish-impressive but it's still okay. Or go watch 2D instead.

I thought Clash of the Titans was really good. The story was more creative than the traditional one shown in the 1981 version. Of course, the 3-D wasn't very spectacular, which just goes to say that Avatar has no equal or superior in its visuals. I tried very hard not to laugh when I saw the golden owl, which was a homage to the 1981 version for anyone who didn't know. Do you find this valuable?

Sorry guy’s, I thought “Clash of the Titans” was a bit corny and not one of Sam’s best performances. I was however impressed by Mads Mikkelsen's performance.

I liked “How to Train Your Dragon” a whole lot better. The flying scenes reminded me of Avatar, which by the way is still my number 1 movie.

victoryblade, I thought it was funny too when they showed Bubo & someone said, naw, don't bring him along. I am glad that they paid homage to him, but am very glad they did not put him in the movie, that would really have been corny.

I also saw How To Train Your Dragon this past Sat. & LOVED it! Valdamar, the flying scenes reminded me a little of Avatar too. I thought the 3D was pretty good too. However, all in all, Avatar is by far a superior movie to any movie ever made in my opinion, but I still love seeing other movies & always will. I just don't compare them to Avatar, because none will ever touch that movie.

I'm a mythology fanatic, so Clash of the Titans was a must-see for me. And though i didn't hate it, i have to say i didn't like it all that much either. I thought the action and scenery and all that stuff was great, but the storyline didn't really do it for me. I may be a little bit biased, though, because I know how Greek mythology is supposed to go, and that movie jumbled things around quite a bit. However, i will say this for sam: i wasn't really reminded of Jake, so i think he did well as an actor there. Of course, images of jake popped in my head every now and then, but it wasn't because of something Perseus said or did, it was just seeing sam's face. Whenever i see Daniel Radcliffe, i'm going to think of Harry Potter. I just can't help it. same way with Sam Worthington. Do you find this valuable?
