Animation/computer generated vs real

Avatar, the perfect movie, but what is needed is one purely technical ammendment. The Na'vi actors,Sam (Jakesully), Zoe (Neytiri), &c., should NOT be all and completely animated/computer generated. Close-ups, shots of their faces and bodies should be of the actual 'made-up' actors themselves. Advertising could then boast, truthfully, that the beautiful and handsome actors that play the parts of the Na'vi are REAL (that stunts and crowd scenes are animated would be accepted) This would add vastly to the credence of the scenes (of Jake and Neytiri embracing and kissing and their 'nuptials, for instance) would become far more 'real' and feasible, if it was, in fact Sam and Zoe actually embracing. I believe that the above would engender a very strong "cult-following" of the series that would add greatly to furture audiences and their 'participation' in promoting the series 3  out of 11 found this valuable. Have you seen "Avatar behind the scenes"?

I think that addresses your concerns. Only the movements of the ears and tail of the Na'vi are added later.
If I remember correctly James Cameron said in an interview that in the November four-disc release of Avatar, he wants to have a version of the movie where you can see the Na'vi scenes and their human actors at the same time (with picture in picture).
There is another interview by Popular Mechanics about the technical aspects of the movie with James Cameron that I can recommend:
